Trying to find birds in a totally unfarmiliar country can be a difficult task. Varanger has many exclusive species and excellent bird watching areas, but little information on when and where you can find the bird of your dreams is available.

On 18th November 2009, Ekkerøy Feriehus was certified as the 13th eco-tourism business in Norway, and as the first in Finnmark and Troms. – We have satisfied 100 requirements and also been through a long application process since two years ago when I decided to be the first eco-tourism business in Finnmark. Right now I am really proud and happy that we made it, director of Ekkerøy Feriehus, Ingjerd Tjelle, says.
